UK retailer GAME announced today that their entire special edition shipment of Splatoon was stolen from a truck on its way from Nintendo of Europe to their UK warehouse. Splatoon is the new arena shooter from Nintendo, where "squid kids" face off to cover the battleground in the appropriate color ink. The game has some content, (minigames) locked behind Amiibo, and the only way to get the inkling squid amiibo is through the special edition. This means that if you ordered from GAME, then you're not going to get what you asked for.
This isn't thier fault though. As far as I know, they got robed, what can you do? What they are doing discounting the game by ten pounds (about twelve bucks) as well as throwing in the squid boy and girl amiibo.
It's a shame that amiibo are so hard to come by that its very lucrative to steal them and sell it on eBay. Perhaps if there were more of them, the demand would go down and stuff like this wouldn't happen. I'm not blaming Nintendo, I'm blaming the thieves, but could stuff like this have been avoided?
