Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is a game that I still don't quite understand. New Leaf is still played on my 3DS weekly, if not daily. My son and wife also play the game. Happy Home Designer (AC:HHD) seems like its just a decoration game. Which is less appealing. The reason that its interesting though is because it will be the first game to have Amiibo cards. These cards come in packs of 3 which will retail for 300 yen per pack is about $2.50 dollars. The cards for this particular game still don't interest me, they are really visitors that you can have over to your house that you've decorated. If you don't have a New 3DS with Amiibo integration then you can buy an infrared reciever that works with old 3DS models
I'm more interested in what they can do with these cards, when I was a kid I collected baseball cards, I would trade them with my friends. Imagine a Nintendo Baseball game, where you can use your Baseball cards to sub in players. Or a Pokemon trading card game for the Wii U / 3DS where if you bought the cards you would have them in the game as well. I think Nintendo can do some really interesting things with Amiibo cards, where else can they tuck away these little NFC chips?
If you're looking forward to the new Animal Crossing game it comes out July 30th in Japan, no news yet on when it will be released in North America or Europe, I expect them to talk about it at E3.
