How the mighty have fallen. Once it could be argued that SEGA was a leader of the gaming market if not the leader. And mistake after mistake has lead them toward this point. SEGA isn't coming to E3.
“Over the next months, SEGA of America will be focusing on the restructure and relocation to Southern California, and we have decided to not attend E3 with our own booth this year, With the majority of our bigger titles launching later in 2015/2016, particularly those from our AAA studios Relic Entertainment, Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly, we are concentrating our efforts for some of these major announcements after our relocation. Instead, we will be collaborating with our various business partners for this year’s E3 show.”
What are those bigger titles? Are they going to avoid the sonic games and push those to mobile? The most recent Sonic game was an abysmal failure. While Alien Isolation was quite a hit. Both critically and financially. I don't think we've seen the last of the blue speedster, but my question is, what form will he be in when he returns, will it be another big console game or more of the endless runner style games that SEGA has released on mobile platforms.
Whatever they do, I'm shocked that they aren't coming to E3, or more accurately. I'm disappointed. What will we see from them? Most likely a few of their games will be featured by third party presentations.
