According to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales, the combined sales of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite systems hit over 1.35 million units in the U.S. in the month of November, which included Thanksgiving and the key shopping day of Black Friday. With these strong sales numbers, Nintendo Switch achieved another milestone as the best-selling video game console in the U.S. for a record-breaking 24 consecutive months.

The Game Awards – What did Nintendo Win?
During The Game Awards, Animal Crossing: New Horizons took home the award for Best Family Game. Several games from Nintendo’s development and publishing partners that are available to play on Nintendo Switch also won awards, including Hades for Best Action Game and Best Indie Game and Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate for Best Fighting Game.

In a new trailer that debuted during The Game Awards, Nintendo announced that Sephiroth, the iconic villain from the FINAL FANTASY series, is joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game as a playable fighter this month. Sephiroth is part of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2 DLC, which also includes DLC fighters Min-Min from the ARMS game and Steve & Alex from Minecraft, along with three yet-to-be-announced fighters. Sephiroth joins Cloud as the second character from the FINAL FANTASY series available as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. More information about Sephiroth will be revealed in a special video dedicated to the upcoming fighter on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. PT.

The legendary platforming series rises again, as Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection marks the heroic return of the series, which debuted over 35 years ago. Paying homage to Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, the latest entry combines the franchise’s action platforming gameplay with storybook-like graphics and challenging new obstacles.

Capcom Arcade Stadium will allow players to bring home the electrifying thrill of an arcade with 32 action-packed classics, which includes a free download of 1943 – The Battle of Midway – and the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins as a stand-alone add-on. Retro fans can then choose to purchase up to three different arcade packs that highlight a different era of Capcom arcade goodness, from ‘80s classics like BIONIC COMMANDO and STRIDER to ‘90s favorites like SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO. Players can also purchase the all-in pack containing all three packs of 10 games in addition to the Ghosts ‘n Goblins stand-alone add-on for maximum retro nostalgia. This must-have collection will include (up to four-player) local multiplayer for the games that support it. Additionally, each title comes with a variety of options that can be adjusted such as Game Speed, Difficulty Level, Display Settings, Display Filters and various frames including a variety of 3D-rendered arcade cabinets. Each game also comes with a Rewind feature, allowing players to jump back in time to save themselves (or a friend) from any unforeseen dangers.
