@stadiacast I believe all you will need to do is get the chrome-cast connected to the network and you can do this Bluetooth on the phone or maybe even the controller. The controller connects first Bluetooth and then to the WiFi through the chrome-cast. I could be wrong but that’s how I believe it will work.

Most people that complain about bad unreliable internet actually do not have a actual problem with the internet but rather the cheapest of cheap ISP supplied router In the past I used to have regular outages that required regular reboots especially under heavy usage but now I run pfSense on a old Watchguard Firebox XTM5 and a Ubiquiti Uni Fi AC Pro been running this setup now for years and unless I do a firmware update my uptime has been 100% made a day/night difference Same goes for when people complain about speed with my ISP on the support forums you see no end of people with high speed connections complaining because of slow speeds and only getting like 20Mbps The usual response is to ask how they are connected for testing and the answer is usually WiFi typically on 2.4Ghz because its the strongest signal but don’t seem to understand that the slow speed is due to being capped by the maximum speed of the WiFi connection

Story 1

Phil Harrison on Data Caps

The ISPs have a strong history of staying ahead of consumer trend and if you look at the history of data caps in those small number of markets–and it’s actually a relatively small number of markets that have [data caps]–the trend over time, when music streaming and download became popular, especially in the early days when it was not necessarily legitimate, data caps moved up. Then with the evolution of TV and film streaming, data caps moved up, and we expect that will continue to be the case.

Phil Harrison talking to Gamespot

ISPs are smart [and] they understand that they’re in the business of keeping customers happy and keeping customers with them for a long time.

I’ve seen the math calculations that people have done. If you take 35mb/s, it’s not always 35mb/s because we use compression. There will be sometimes when actually it’s using significantly less data than that, so it’s not correct to multiply 35 mbp/s by the number of seconds that you play.

Story 2

On Game prices

The value you get from the game on Stadia means you can play it on any screen in your life – TV, PC, laptop, tablet, phone, I don’t know why it would be cheaper, I think that is going to be valuable to players. In theory, the Stadia version of a game is going to be at the highest-possible quality of innovation and sophistication on the game engine side.

The publisher or the developer is in as much control of the prices as we are, so it’s a bit difficult for me to say what the prices will be right now, But, we’re obviously going to be very aware of prevailing prices in the marketplace.

And on Beta testing

Geographically, the US is the most complex place to test; just because of the size of the country. And actually, Europe – and particularly the UK – are much… relatively, they are relatively easier to launch. So we are not going to do another test in the UK or Europe. If we had time we probably would have done so, but we don’t need to.
