Overwatch 2 coming to Switch, Diablo 4 not

With the release of the Nintendo Switch Lite, there is a possibility to bring back titles that have previously been developed for handheld consoles. However, within Nintendo, rather than rereleasing past handheld games because of the Nintendo Switch Lite’s release, we are discussing more what sorts of new games we can create for the entire Nintendo Switch family. Within that, we are also considering past titles, but regarding what sorts of discussions are being held in detail, there is nothing I can say at present.

Nintendo really wants to WOW us with Breath of the Wild 2

Yes, the sequel is currently in development. At the present time we cannot comment much about the game, but we wish to deliver new gameplay experiences that exceed the previous game to fans and users, so we will have to borrow the strength of many people to create this new title. Hence the reason why we are hiring new terrain designers at Nintendo.

I’ve been catching up on your podcast over the last few months while keeping up with the latest episodes, loving it so far.
You just said you don’t really understand how Super Kirby Clash is being monetized, so I thought I’d give a quick rundown on the game.
Think of it as an extremely simplified Monster Hunter style game. You go into battle with four Kirbys, each of which can be one of four classes. You can choose to do this solo with AI or online with other players.
The paid currency is Gem Apples, which can be earned through completing missions or purchased for cash.Gem apples plus several other materials are required to craft new weapons, helmets and consumables for each of the classes.Unlocking stages also require some Gem Apples to unlock. The game seems pretty generous at first with giving you these Gem Apples but the cost of equipment and unlocks goes up pretty quick.
The game uses an energy system similar to mobile games which will limit your play time unless you use Gem Apples to refresh.
The base game is quite fun but I can see the shine wearing off pretty quickly.

What’s up RJS!?  I have been gaming ever since Super Mario Bros on Duck Hunt and I have never been interested in ever playing an RPG.  Like you, I am a teacher and I was looking for a game to play to finish up summer.  I am patiently waiting for Grid Autosport as the next game I plan on buying.  Because I have finally been losing interest in Mario Maker, I decided to try the free demo on Dragon Quest.  It turns out I really like it and it makes my time on the elliptical fly by.  I’m fact I did an extra hour on the elliptical this morning because I was enjoying Dragon Quest so much.  I think I might plan on buying the full version of the game if Grid doesn’t get a release date soon!  Good job Square on the great demo!

Love the show. On episode 390 you talked about the cost of joycon drift repairs in the UK. I had drift issues back in April. I didn’t think about the warranty and I later realised I had bought it 13 months prior so it was out of warranty. I sent off the joycon with the freepost label and the receipt, and it was fixed – for free – in a week or two and returned to me. Either they were just being nice, they didn’t check the receipt, or I caught the first of their new joycon repair policy! Either way, I was luckier than your correspondent who was quoted £20-£30. For those in the UK, it’s worth just checking as there might be some leeway.

Hey dude been wanting to comment on doom on switch and how some of the game needs to be downloaded to play mostly the multiplayer aspect. I got that game almost day one and when I put the cart in and tried to just play story mode a message came up that said needed to download content before you can play game at which I am cool with cause i like playing games online. Even recently I was freeing up my sd card and archive some downloaded games from my switch including the 9gb from doom. After the fact When I went into play just the story stuff  recently the game told me to download content again. Anyway not really important just throwing info out there.

Nintendo Reveals News About Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games at gamescom

At gamescom in Cologne, Germany, it’s been a week full of Nintendo news about the stellar lineup on the Nintendo Switch system. From details about upcoming DLC for the MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order game to deep dives into games like ASTRAL CHAIN and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, the news coming out of gamescom highlighted the deep well of content that is headed to Nintendo Switch this year.

Some of the news revealed at the show includes:

  • The director of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games, Shigeru Ohmori from GAME FREAK, provided a short video message for fans, offering a new look at one of the towns in the Galar region. Pokémon Swordand Pokémon Shield launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 15.
  • In MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order, players will step into the boots of the urban vigilantes known as Punisher, Blade, Moon Knight and Morbius, as the Marvel Knights join the alliance. These playable characters are part of DLC Pack 1 included with the MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order Expansion Pass (sold separately), which also includes a new mode. In Gauntlet Mode, up to four players* take on a frenzied series of co-op challenges in rapid succession to earn rewards. In addition, alternative outfits for all playable characters will be added to the game via a series of free updates, starting on Aug. 30 with new outfits for Spider-Man, Hulk and Captain Marvel. As previously announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July, the free update on Aug. 30 will also add Cyclops and Colossus as brand new playable characters.
  • Upcoming Nintendo Switch game The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is now available for pre-purchase in Nintendo eShop.
  • Retro fans will love the 2D mode coming to Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. In addition to 3D events, players can compete in Classic 2D Events using graphics reminiscent of the NES era. In addition, it was revealed that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will launch for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 5.
  • Knights, sorcerers and everyone in between can now check out a free demo for the DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Editiongame in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch. When the full game launches on Sept. 27, it will also come with a free Champion’s Pack. Downloading the pack will give players access to helpful items and fun costumes.

Additionally, more information and game footage was unveiled for upcoming Nintendo Switch games like ASTRAL CHAIN (Aug. 30), Luigi’s Mansion 3 (Oct. 31), The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Sept. 20), The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition (Oct. 15), Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (Nov. 5) and DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition (Sept. 27). The four European winners will fly to Japan for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Challenge Cup held on Oct. 14 at Nintendo Live in Kyoto, where they’ll compete against qualified teams from Japan and North America, as well as other top players.

Hey Bill,

One thing I think people are overlooking about the OG Switch is that it is supposed to be easily hackable. Because of that I intend to hang onto mine indefinitely, even after I upgrade to another model at some point. One day it will be an awesome portable way to play ALL of my retro favorites on the go as well as my Switch library.

On the latest lite Switch, you discussed wanting a normal Switch that sells without a dock. Well, in Japan they do have a skew that ships without one.
Now I guess they assume all Americans are snotty Xbox players that only play on the TV, (kidding of course) so they don’t sell it in America, but if you can find it cheap to import, it’s an option.

Thanks for the show!

Hi Bill,

Just wanted to send some quick thoughts on the Nintendo Switch Lite. I’ve been listening to a lot of feedback on your show and online and I’m surprised at how many seem down on the price and the new Switch Lite itself.

The name I get doesn’t make much sense now that it doesn’t dock—but the name “Switch” is so popular right now that of course Nintendo is going to keep the name. Plus, it so similar to the Nintendo Switch and plays almost all of the same games so I think changing the name would create too much confusion.

For the price—I think $200 is spot on. Nintendo is one of the few gaming companies that actually make money on their hardware. Dropping the price of the Switch Lite too low would basically kill sales for the actual Nintendo Switch. The $200 price tag immediately sounds more tempting than the $300 price of the Switch and many gamers won’t care about the dock, HD rumble or detachable joycon—they want to play the games that the Switch has to offer, without coughing up another $100.

Having said that—I think it won’t take long before the price of both the Switch and Switch Lite drop as the new Playstation and Xbox are released. I would imagine a new Switch Pro is right around the corner to compete with the announcements of the new consoles from their competitors.

I’m excited for the Switch Lite and I love the colors!! I already own a Switch but I’ll definitely be picking up a Switch Lite on release.

Thanks, Bill!! Loving the more frequent episodes 🙂

Hey Bill good morning:
I will make this short and sweet.
First I kind of got a curious question for. I been listening to your show since before switch was released. I actually was shopping for wii u at time when I saw a Facebook post about nx. That was a year and a half before release date of switch. So I been listening since than but I have unlimited data with T mobile and stream every thing and I know you always thanking people for downloading your show but do you get the credit for people who stream podcast with their data.

Now about the switch light correct me if i am wrong but if you have the OG switch and pay for Nintendo Switch Online would it be as easy as just uploading your save data from cloud backup and I think you could even use that method if you upgraded your sd card.
I am with a lot of people switch lite is not for me. I like playing on my TV and being able to play in bed.

I just thought I comment because tour last show someone had good idea leaving OG in dock and using the lite for undock mode.

Long time listener, big MUA fan.
Not sure how much experience you have with the series but the original MUA had alot of weird camera angles, even awkward and forced at times. They try to keep things fresh and give perspective depending on scenarios. I personally found heroic to be the best camera angle. If you have played hyrule warriors, also made by team ninja, it makes it feel more like their previous game. But the distant and weird forced angles are par for the course.
Keep up the good podcasting fellow New Yorker.

Initial thoughts on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Camera is horrible

The game shines in local multiplayer

I didn’t enjoy playing on Heroic difficulty, Friendly was way more fun. Ignoring the synergy stuff made the game a lot more fun as well.

The game does an extremely bad job of teaching you how to play.

I like it and will be playing more
